Overtime working cost

Peak Drying: (19,000/600) * 0.7 (% wet) = 22.2 hours to dry
Assume: 11 hours work (12 -1 for lunch)
Arrival rate = 19,000 * 0.7 = 1,210 bbls PER HOUR
Bottleneck=1210-600=610 bbls PER HOUR
Total bottleneck inventory amount = 610*11=6710 bbls



Solution 1
- 15 bins

1. No Dryer Cost
= 2,500×0 = 0
2. Converting Bin Cost
= (6,710-3,200)/250 = 14.04 → 15
= 15×5,000 = 75,000
3. No Overtime Saving Cost
Sum: 75,000

Solution 2
- 1 dryer + 6 bins
1. Dryer Cost
= 25,000
2. Converting Bin Cost
= (4,510-3,200)/250 = 5.24 → 6
= 6×5,000 = 30,000
3. Overtime Saving Cost
Full-time: 5.6×27×3.75×1.5×20 = 17,010
Temporary : 5.6×26×2.75×1.5×20 = 12,012
TOTAL = 29,022
Sum: 25,000+30,000– 29,022= 25,978

1. Dryers Cost

Full-time: 8.9×27×3.75×1.5 ×20 = 27,033.75
