2) News coverage in international news agencies
Covering the troubled situations between Google and China, most of news agencies, even Aljazeera, take a biased attitude toward Google. It is because ‘Free flow of information’ ideology was practically accepted to most part of the world after the Cold War, capitalism and democracy winning. Nowadays, freedom of speech is naturally needed to healthy country, so China is facing all these nations’ blaming that China restricts the rights of Chinese people. Google, the famous search engine website over the world, is trying to advance to the mainland of China since 2000. In first time, China Government avoided the coming of other countries’ internet companies, because it was afraid of their business’ policy can be dangerous to its centralization of power. It demanded the companies to keep its National Security Law. Google had to follow the law to start its business. Recent years Google is raising the standard of rebellion, at the same time, China is also fighting Google pressing its beneficial foundation. Most of the opinions are represented by the view of U.S.A. International agencies showed a tendency to protect Google’s standpoint. These interviews tried to send the idea that the tendency in China is every netizens support Google totally. The report also called the case ‘One-sided censorship of China’ by quoting the interviewees’ statements. By showing Chinese people’s real thoughts, the article looks objective surely.
The New York Times pressed another article ‘Google, Citing Attack, Threatens to Exit China’. The report confirms that hacking on G-mail was China’s doing in spite of official denial of China. It mentioned the Google’s motto ‘Don’t be evil’ to show that Google’s withdrawal is for justice and freedom. Also, the writer kept pointing out the reality that how the censorship blocks the information and human rights in China which is against the world trends.
As well as the News from CNN was not different at all. They tend to use hostile expressions like ‘Struggle with China’, or ‘Threatens to exit’ in the news reports. ‘Google Threatens to Exit China’ covered Google keep its belief although it may lose its financial profit, and comment one-sided china’s view shortly.
3) News coverage in Korea
Korean media maintain their objectivities covering the news of each side. In this case, Korean news agencies are holding a balance in general. Most news of Korean broadcasts and newspapers were delivering more objectively than news of U.S.A or China. Usually the coverage was founded on factual events, with neutral stands. News of Korean media also
