Brief presentation of corporation
1. History and Vision
In 1966, the parent corporation of STX Pan Ocean - BumYang Shipping Company was founded, focusing on Marine Transportation. During 90’s the company developed a lot providing shipping and container services. In 2004, the company changed its name as ‘STX Pan Ocean’, and the following year, 14 July 2005, the company listed the stocks in Singapore in firstly as a Korean company. Also it listed Korea ExXchange Security Stocks on 21 September 2007.
STX Pan Ocean was able to be a major shipping company because it has a specific and attainable vision. It is committed to achieve its goal of becoming World’s the Best Shipping Company. STX Pan Ocean will continue to expand value-added non-dry bulk services such as container service, tanker service, car carrier service and LNG carrier service, together with its pre-existing dry-bulk services.
In the case of its organization and structure, the company aims at fleet expansion, global competitiveness and maximization of synergy with its affiliates to secure stable business portfolio to foster its key companies to be World’s the Best Company in each sector.

2. Analysis the main service and competitors in the market
(1) Main Service
Since 1966, STX Pan Ocean has struggled for becoming "World’s the Best" company. With an effort from the company’s powerful & stable business activity in sector of Dry cargo, Pure car carrier, Full container service and other worldwide ocean related services were the main source of the company’s success.
Moreover, the company took the advantages from having vertical affiliation with STX ship building, STX engine & other STX subsidiaries. STX Pan Ocean has already held a dominant position in the Dry bulk market and now it is heading toward being one of the 5 major shipping companies of the world.
