본문내용
1. Introduction
Feedback is an important element in second language acquisition (SLA). If non-native speakers (NNS) are not given proper feedback by native speakers (NS), they cannot substantially acquire L2. That is, SLA will not be completed without feedback. L2 learners may be able to acquire the grammatical aspects of L2 on their own by learning through books, but it is challenging to teach oneself certain communicative aspects or difficult grammatical details, without the communication with L1 speakers. Therefore, if L2 speakers want to learn their target language, the experience of a “real communicative situation” with L1 speakers is important.
In previous studies and research by scholars and experts on SLA and feedback, it is revealed that there are many methods of feedback and advantages for each respective method. For our study, our group decided to focus on the comparison among certain feedback methods to come to a potential conclusion on which can be the most effective for L2 learners. The questions which this paper seeks to answer are as follows: Does negative feedback have an impact on acquiring L2 skills, and between the use of echo questions and the use of recasts, which is a more effective method?
As stated above, many experts have done research on feedback. However, results are not always consistent; each study has its own conclusions. Due to these differing results, we decided to conduct a study and reach results of our own.
