steroid와 B2 agonist 사용에 따라 반응이 제각각 다르다는 점은 항 류코트리엔제 연구를 통해서 재조명되었다. 랜덤화된 이런 스테로이드나 베타 아고니스트 약제의 사용에 따라 증상은 베이스라인기준에 비교하여 60~80%정도의 증상 감소를 보였다. 이는 이 환자들의 폐기능개선은 35~50%정도에 그친 것에 비교하여 차이를 보인다. 이런 차이는 아마 환자들간에 leukotriene의 생물학적, 유전자적, 임상적인 특징들이 다른 데서 기인하는 것으로 추측된다43자동
