Fuel cell
device that converts the chemical energy from a fuel into electricity through a chemical reaction with oxygen or another oxidizing agent
Principle
1.Anode : Ionization of H2
H2 → 2H++2e-
2.Movement of H+&e- from anode to cathode
· H+ : along the electrolyte
· e- : along the electrical load
3. Cathode : chemical reaction of O2- &2H+
O2-+2H+ → H2O
·high efficiency : up to 85% efficient if waste heat is captured for use.
·Low noise
·Low emissions : produce water, heat and, depending on the fuel source, very small amounts of nitrogen dioxide and other emissions.
·Many capabilities
: used to power fuel cell vehicles, including automobiles, buses, orklifts, airplanes, boats, motorcycles and submarines
