03 CASE 22: Wildlife Attraction
- 본문내용

‘Green issues’ is still a very wide and rather vague overarching term for a broad range of topics
‘Sustainability’ means developing and managing attractions which are as environmentally friendly, socially equitable and economically viable as possible
How Consumers & Organizations Can Become Greener
Symbolic action in relation to the day-to-day operation of the organization, such as the use of recycled paper
Making production processes more environmentally friendly
Reducing packaging that wastes resources and fulfils no useful purpose
Lowering energy consumption
Sponsoring conservation projects
Reduce energy consumption through insulation and switching off heating and lighting, whenever this can be done without reducing the quality of the visitor experience.
Reduce waste and ensure that recyclable materials are used wherever this is practical.
Minimize pollution whether it be water, or noise pollution.
Buy from local supplies wherever possible.
Only buy from suppliers who also behave in a responsible manner towards the environmental.
Be a ‘good neighbor’ and minimize inconvenience to those who live around the attraction.
Place controls on visitor flows where unlimited visitor access to parts of the attraction would cause environmental damage.
Zone potentially conflicting uses of an attractions
Maintain the environmental quality of the attraction rather than possibly responding to financial constraints.
Ensure that the attraction is accessible to all sectors of the community.
In a broad sense making human resource management more sustainable might include the following elements:
Recruiting local people wherever possible, even if this means spending more effort trying to find suitable staff from the local area than it would take to obtain experienced staff from outside.
Adopting human resource policies that are in keeping with local culture and employment practices.
Training local managers so that one day they will be able to take over from the managers who may have come in with the company to manage the attraction.
Training staff to understand the importance of green issues and to operate in a greener manner on a day-to-day basis.
Taking care when staff have to be made redundant, for whatever reason, that it is handled sensitively and that all possible efforts are made to make it as painless as possible for the person concerned.
