Introduction
Original camera industry (before Mirrorless Camera) was divided into two major categories which are compact camera and DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex). Their features were so different that customers were also divided and had different trends. Recently, the compact camera market is rapidly decreasing even with the situation where DSLR market is slowing going up. The compact camera market is facing a serious crisis which comes from the wide spread of smart phone and SNS (Social Network Service). Because of SNS, the key factor to attract customers moved from what to picture to when to picture. In addition, the quality gap between compact camera and smartphone camera was becoming more and more narrow. The compatibility of smartphone and SNS with enough quality, people did not feel good reason for buying compact camera. In result, the compact camera market decreased about 20% in recent three years. In contrast, DSLR market was not affected by smartphone and SNS. Customers of DSLR still laid more importance on the quality of picture. They were willing to give up the compatibility of smart phone and portability of compact camera only because of the higher quality and diversified functions (related to the advantage of exchangeable lens) of DSLR. The DSLR market was dominated by two major manufacturers who were Cannon and Nikon. Two companies took 74% of total DSLR market share. On this situation, the MILC (Mirrorless Interchangeable Lens Camera) came into the market. The introduction of the MILC can be called as disruptive technology since its technology will be never be good as the DSLR cameras or the weight will be never be lighter than the compact cameras.
