[영미문학] 윌리엄 포크너의 `에밀리에게 장미를 A Rose for Emily` 작품분석

작품이라고 할 수 있다. 가장 미국적이면서 남부적인 작가로 일컫어지는 Willam Falkner는 이 작품 속에서 남부의 몰락하는 귀족적이고 전통적인 가치에 대한 연민과 향수, 그리고 인종적 차별에 대한 비판을 동시에 나타내고 있다. 몇몇 비평가들은 포크너가 남북전쟁 이전의 남부사회를 지지하는 등 인종에 대한 편견을 가지고 있다고 주장한다. 물론 A Rose for Emily에서 드러나는 그의 정치적 식견은 비평가들의 견해를 충족시킬 만한 요소가 다분하다.
