본문내용: 천개의 찬란한 태양 – 이 소설에서는 그러한 교훈적인 부분이 아주 많다. 다른 학생들처럼 나 또한 아프가니스탄의 정치적인 상황에 대해 잘 몰랐고 그 곳 여성들의 고된 삶을 짐작만 했지 출산장면 등처럼 그토록 끔찍할 것이라고는 상상하지 못했었다. 아프가니스탄 여인의 파란만장한 역사와 그곳만의 정취를 느낄 수 있는 작품이었다.

Mariam and Laila are two very real, literally attractive characters. I felt for them and became a very real part of their struggles over the course of the story. This novel covers 40 years of Afghanistan history. While the historical background is not the focus of this story, it is an ever present backdrop to the personal struggle of two women. We, living in far from Afghanistan easily forget how much we truly have to be thankful for. Here, we can get a big picture of life in Afghanistan civil war and under an oppressive regime.
마리암과 라일라는 아주 사실적이고 매력적인 캐릭터였고 그들의 상황속에 계속 동화되었다. 소설은 두 여인의 삶을 통해 아프가니스탄 40년간의 역사를 훑어낸다. 멀리 떨어진 나라에서 사는 우리는 소설속의 상황처럼 그 곳에 있지않음에 감사하고 정치적인 상황을 상상하면 된다.

I Hope the author does a better job on his next work. It is the meaning beyond it, delivered to us with an awareness made more significant by the deep, evident love for his native, wounded country.
작가의 다음 작품이 벌써부터 기대되는 이유는 작가의 상처받은 고국에 대한 이야기에서 느껴지는 감동과 교훈이 아주 크기 때문일 것이다.
