Anebal Troilo - the patriarchal defender of the tango and related cultural values. Astor Piazzolla - revolutionized tango music. Founder of tango's Advant - Garde School in 1955. Piazzolla's innovations evoked strong emotions, including outright hatred from many traditionalists who believed he was destroying the tango by changing it. Military was well aware of the potential of the tango's power to be used in the service of revolution. Since 1983 the popularity of the tango has increased significantly, not only in Argentina but worldwide. |
