| What is Anemia? - a medical condition in which the red blood cell count or hemoglobin is less than normal. - If hemoglobin is abnormal or low, the cells in your body will not get enough oxygen. - For men, as hemoglobin level of less than 13.5 g/100 ml and in women as hemoglobin of less than 12.0 g/100 ml. What causes anemia? - Any process that can disrupt the normal life span of a red blood cell (around 120 days). - There are more than 400 types of anemia, which are divided into three groups: 1. blood loss 2. decreased or faulty red blood cell production 3. destruction of red blood cells |
