제1부 19세기 이전의 미국문학 1. 청교도 이전의 미국문학 Captain John Smith, from The General History of Virginia, New England, and the Summer Isles (1624) P5, 1행~8행 It might be thought a country so fair (as Virginia is) and a people so tractable [as the Indians are] would long ere this have been quietly possessed, to the satisfaction of the adventurers and the eternizing of the memory of those that effected it.
